Cleaning systems
Reduced cost and environmental load WITH UNIQUE CENTRAL CLEANING SYSTEM
Developed to meet most customers’ demands for improved efficiency in cleaning, the Central Cleaning System (CCS) from Lagafors ensures great savings thanks to reduced consumption of water and chemicals as well as optimal use of temperature and energy.
Water is becoming one of the most precious resources on Earth. The World Bank reports that 80 countries now have water shortages that threaten health and economies, while 40 percent of the world — more than 2 billion people — have no access to clean water or sanitation. Also, in many European countries water supply is a growing concern, both in terms of access to it and its high cost (supply, wastewater treatment and heating). This is an issue that cannot be neglected anymore, especially for the food industry with its high hygiene demands and consequently high water consumption in production.
It is with this scenario in mind that the Central Cleaning System, CCS, from Lagafors was conceived. The system is the result of many years’ research and development activities with the aim of meeting the EU water saving directives introduced in 2006.
The system
The complete CCS System is made up of five main components which all have been developed bearing the Lagafors cornerstones in mind, i.e. ultimate hygiene at reduced cost, with reduced environmental impact in an improved work setting.
Water pump units together with the Pre-Cleaning Nozzle (PCN) and our latest generation spray gun, the Triggless® II, constitute the components in the patented Variable Pressure System (VPS). By combining the VPS with the Variable Chemical Centre (VCC), customers can enjoy cost savings of up to 35% compared to most traditional cleaning systems and methods. These savings, and a decreased environmental impact, are achieved thanks to reduced use of warm water and chemicals and production of less wastewater.
Balanced production
With the CCS from Lagafors, all parameters such as energy, time, chemistry and temperature are in balance. When this occurs you achieve maximum results with minimal consumption of water, energy, chemicals and effort. In practice, with the CCS this means not only an approximately 50% reduction of water consumption but also ca 10% lower temperature used in production. Thanks to a correct use of pressure and flow in the system, these savings are obtained without compromising on performance or quality.
Furthermore, the actual set-up of the CCS system contributes to saving resources. The CCS uses centralized setting of production parameters, which prevents manipulation by the operators. This increases the accuracy in the dosing process and, what’s more, saves chemicals and energy. Central dosing of chemicals also means the employees don’t need to directly handle concentrates. As a result the quantity of chemicals used is heavily reduced, which in turn contributes to an improved and safer working environment.
Facts about the CCS system
Thanks to the latest entries in the Lagafors product portfolio, the low water pressure pumps LWP 20 and LWP 40, the CCS system can now run with the same benefits as before in the pressure and flow range 20 – 80 bar and from 90 l/min up to 270 l/min.
Lagafors® unique, centralized chemical dosing system VCC,
Variable Chemical Centre, now has a newly developed successor - the VCC
II. In our development offers, we have focused on increased capacity and
flexibility, improved materials and components, as well as enhanced
personal safety. Other features are much more efficient maintenance and
technical service. This unit is comprised of a pressure pump, 1-4
chemical dosing modules and a controller.
The Variable Media Satellite (VMS) is our hygienically designed satellite station which is connected to any water pump and the VCC unit. The VMS consists of a mixer block that blends compressed air and chemicals to foam of desired hardness, and control valves to allow distribution of disinfectants and water. All media settings are fixed so that no operator adjustments are needed. This means that the operator only needs to open the valves to pre-wash, apply foam, disinfect or rinse with the correct pressure and dosing. This work is made even easier thanks to the Lagafors® colour coding system which includes both ball valves and nozzles.
With the newly developed VMS-T up to four different media (normally chemicals, disinfectant and water) can be distributed through the satellite station. The VMS-T is in fact the only satellite in the industry which can handle three different chemical solutions at the same time. E.g. the VMS-T simultaneously handles both alkaline and acid chemicals in parallel outlets, without having to clean the unit when changing from one kind of solution to the other. This option represents a truly revolutionary feature both from a commodity and an operator safety point of view. The VMS-T follows the same hygiene design as all other Lagafors products, it is very user-friendly and easy to clean thanks to its open bottom.
Why foam cleaning?
Foam cleaning is a method where air bubbles have been dissipated in a chemical product solution. The foam itself consists of 90% air, 9.6% water and 0.4% washing agent. 500 litres of foam are thus made up of 1 litre of washing agent, 49 litres of water and 450 litres of air. With this amount of foam it is possible to cover 200 m2 of horizontal surface with a 2 mm layer.
The advantages of foam cleaning are many:
- Allows full control of chemical concentration, while minimizing hazards related to the handling of chemicals.
- Increases penetration on porous surfaces.
- Facilitates the visual control of the surfaces covered by the foam.
- Guarantees longer contact time between the applied chemicals and the dirt, especially on vertical surfaces.
The patented Triggless® II spray gun is ergonomically designed to reduce muscle strain on the operator. The gun uses the reaction-force of the water to stay open instead of a traditional trigger. It is lightweight, safe to use with one hand and suitable for all pressure levels up to 1500 bar. During operation, the Triggless® II can be held in different ways and features a “dead man’s grip”, i.e. the water flow is shut off if the gun is accidentally dropped.
The patent pending Pre-Cleaning Nozzle (PCN) enables the user to control the water pressure for long or short distance cleaning, i.e. 0.3 – 7 metres. The purpose is to replace the normal high-flow water hose with the PCN in the pre-cleaning stage. Correctly used, this method dramatically reduces water consumption. The Pre-Cleaning Nozzle weighs a mere 125 grams.
